Muscle Car Research is proud to offer this proportioning valve rebuild kit for the cast iron Kelsey-Hayes combination brake valve used by AMC, Chrysler, Ford, and GM during the 1970s and 1980s. Our kit contains all of the parts needed to rebuild the proportioning portion of the valve, including:
- O-ring
- Proportioning valve spring
- Piston seal
- U-cup seal (optional)
Note that the product image above shows kh-kit-2, which is kh-kit-1 with the optional u-cup seal included.
All of the rubber parts are molded from a 70 durometer ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber compound that is fully compatible with automobile brake fluid. The spring is made from type 302 stainless steel and features squared and ground ends. All parts are made right here in the USA!
Note the optional u-cup seal. Some Kelsey-Hayes valves use a nylon bushing in the plug in place of this seal. You don't need the seal if your valve uses a nylon bushing. More information, including pictures of both types of plugs, can be found in our autopsy article.
